Welcome to Krupnik Culture!

What is Krupnik?

Krupnik is a traditional sweet alcoholic liqueur, based on grain spirit and honey, popular in Poland and in Buffalo, New York. Mass produced versions consist of 40%-50% (80-100 proof) alcohol, but traditional versions will use 80% - 100% grain alcohol as the base. Honey, in particular clover honey, is the main ingredient to add sweetness, as well as up to 50 different herbs.

Legend has it that the recipe was created by the
Benedictine monks in the 1300s. Over the centuries, many versions have been concocted with some recipes passed down through generations.
Despite its ancient pedigree, Krupnik's popularity has not faded in Poland, where it traditionally makes up more than 10% of annual liquor sales.

The most popular brand of krupnik in Buffalo is "Old Krupnik," produced by Sobieski Vodka.

Reasons Why Every Polish-American Household Should Own At Least ONE Bottle of Krupnik

1)    A wonderful way to share in an authentic Polish tradition. Bring out a tray of shots served in Polish crystal shot glasses and toast to good health and happiness.... Na zdrowie!

2)    It’s a drink grandma will enjoy. The sweetness of the honey makes it easy on the ladies.

3)    Medicinal purposes – No flimflam sale here. This centuries old remedy works. Just ask the Felician nuns in Buffalo, New York. It has been told to us that the convent always has a few bottles on hand used to tend to the sick Sisters. During WWII, Krupnik was given to Polish Soldiers. Perfect for a sore throat, chest congestion or general malaise... Drink warm or mix with tea. Breathe in and sip. Let the magic of Krupnik do its work.

4)    Krupnik is the perfect drink to sip while shoveling snow or snow blowing. Keep a little in a flask and share with your neighbor while you dig out.

5)    It’s the perfect gift. Always keep an extra bottle on hand to give away.
